[00:00:00] Speaker A: SA.
[00:00:31] Speaker B: Welcome to Balancing Acts, the show where we explore strategies, challenges and breakthroughs that help business owners build a profitable and resilient company.
I'm your host, Linda Hamilton, a CPA certified exit planning advisor and a certified systemologist. Running a business is about more than hard work. It's about strategy and profitability, certainly, and thinking about long term growth.
But beyond that, it's about mindset. So often mindset gets in the way of building a successful company or, you know, getting back on track when things, when you get stuck. And today's guest, Tamika Jones of Flawless Life Coaching is here to help us understand how mindset affects our lives, our personal life and our business.
She's a transformational life coach dedicated to empowering women to overcome self doubt and embrace their true purpose with confidence and resilience. One of my favorite words. And with over 23 years of experience as a nurse, veteran speaker and author, Tameka brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her coaching practice. Thank you for joining us today, Tameka.
[00:01:45] Speaker A: Thank you for having me here, Linda. Thank you.
[00:01:48] Speaker B: So this time, this segment I want to talk about breaking the cycle of self limiting beliefs which I think so many of us have heard a lot about.
So many women business owners and business owners in general are capable of achieving more than they realize, but their self limiting beliefs hold them back right from the start.
How do self limiting beliefs typically show up for women business owners that you.
[00:02:15] Speaker A: Work with, self limiting beliefs tend to show up as quiet, right? That voice that says I'm not enough or who am I to do this right before even taking that first step that women and beliefs right there.
[00:02:34] Speaker C: Right.
[00:02:36] Speaker A: Linda, did you know that more than 50% of women leaders admit or admitted their own self limited belief showed in their personal growth?
Think about that. More than 50 of women leaders admitted to this.
And when I think of self limiting beliefs, I think of it's like driving a car, right? It's like driving a car, you have one foot on the gas and one foot on a break.
You would never get to your full potential.
[00:03:03] Speaker C: Right.
[00:03:03] Speaker A: Because you're holding yourself back.
[00:03:08] Speaker B: Oh, that's very powerful. I really can relate to that. Having run a business for a very long time and you know, there's definitely times when things get in the way. Maybe you know, the project isn't good enough or I'm not charging enough and just different things. So I love that analogy of the put on the gas and the brake at the same time which really describes business.
Can you give me some examples you've seen in your Coaching practice of a self limiting belief.
[00:03:38] Speaker A: One example that comes to mind is the comparison trap.
[00:03:42] Speaker C: Right.
[00:03:44] Speaker A: Many, many men and women in business, they tend to compare themselves to others.
[00:03:49] Speaker C: Right.
[00:03:49] Speaker A: What they see on social media, they undervalue their services.
They're waiting until they feel perfectly ready or downplaying their expertise.
Right. So that comparison trap is huge. And it's so easy to get stuck in that comparison trap, comparing yourself to others and what, what is that saying? Keeping up with the Joneses.
[00:04:14] Speaker C: Right.
[00:04:14] Speaker A: But you don't know what the Joneses are actually going through in that business or what they had to do to, to get to where they're at. So that comparison trap is huge. And you know, my daughter, she always tell me, mom, it's not about striving for perfection, but it's striving for progress.
So long as you're progressing, that's what matters the most.
[00:04:38] Speaker C: Right.
[00:04:39] Speaker A: Your journey is your journey that's so valuable.
[00:04:43] Speaker B: Yes. Because we set our own goals. We don't want to really tie our goals to what someone else wants for us or believes we should do.
That just sets us up for failing or feeling unhappy about the progress we made. So that's really, I think such great advice for people, that comparison. I just want to stop there for a second because it's very natural when you're in business to compare yourself to your competitors. In marketing, they teach us to do competitor research, but it's one thing to do research, but how do you remove, you know, that part of a business strategy from then also, you know, maybe, you know, not giving yourself credit that okay, you're not the same as your competitor, but it's useful information.
[00:05:38] Speaker A: I think it's good, good too to have that comparison to other businesses but find that business that I guess that you want to not be like. But that's, that's for me. Okay, for an example, for me, Lisa Nichols, Mel Robbins.
[00:05:56] Speaker C: Right.
[00:05:57] Speaker A: No competition. I'm not. Well, I am competition. Let me take that back. I am competition.
But yeah, they're, they're someone there. I look up to them.
[00:06:07] Speaker C: Right.
[00:06:08] Speaker A: I model some of my teachings, my, my beliefs from their, their, their teachings.
[00:06:14] Speaker C: Right.
[00:06:14] Speaker A: I, I want to be like more like them.
[00:06:17] Speaker C: Right.
[00:06:17] Speaker A: So it's not really comparison, but allow the comparison to turn into growth.
[00:06:24] Speaker C: Right.
[00:06:25] Speaker A: I'm gonna learn and grow from, you know, my competitors and that's what I do in my business.
[00:06:32] Speaker B: That's a great way to look at it. So you know, when you have self limiting beliefs, they, they affect your decision making, maybe your leadership or how you know, how much you grow. Like there's often that fixed versus growth mindset, you know, that you can't do it. So how do these beliefs actually affect decision making that you see with people you work with?
[00:06:54] Speaker A: They lead to these, these limited beliefs leads to underpricing, right? Under underpricing your coaching programs or playing small and leadership roles or downplaying, you know, what, what, what value you add to the team and also passing on opportunities that could have elevated your business and, or your growth.
[00:07:17] Speaker C: Right.
[00:07:17] Speaker A: This is big. A lot of times these self limiting beliefs, they, they're sneaky, right. And we have to be self aware whenever they creep in.
[00:07:29] Speaker C: Right.
[00:07:29] Speaker A: And even for me, when I first started my journey, this self limiting belief, you know, that played over and over my mind was fear of public speaking.
[00:07:38] Speaker C: Right.
[00:07:39] Speaker A: And I allowed that to hinder me from opportunities that was presented to me.
And even when I first started my business, I started in apparel, you know, because I was afraid to speak out. I knew I had a greater purpose. But I started with Women Empowerment apparel and I'm like, oh, I could tell my story through my T shirts. Yeah, I don't ever have to speak again.
But that's not where a year later, God said, that's not where I wanted you to be. You started at based on your fears.
[00:08:12] Speaker C: Right?
[00:08:12] Speaker B: Right.
[00:08:13] Speaker A: So now I've been called to a greater purpose.
[00:08:16] Speaker C: Right.
[00:08:16] Speaker A: And it's giving back, it's empowering women, it's, it's helping them to find their identity, their true identity.
[00:08:22] Speaker C: Right.
[00:08:22] Speaker A: And step into their purpose and passion in life.
[00:08:26] Speaker B: Oh, that's wonderful.
I love that story. And you're right, pricing is one where it really comes out or passing on opportunities because you think you can't figure out how to do it.
So, you know, there's probably a lot of different types of self limiting beliefs, but if a business owner finds they have them and it's keeping them stuck, what's like the first step they can take to dismantle those beliefs or to put them behind you so that they don't control you, you know, because that's one of the things is, are these beliefs controlling your behavior?
[00:08:57] Speaker C: Right.
[00:08:57] Speaker A: I agree. Having that self awareness I think is key, right.
Catching that thought in the moment, right. Catching it and asking, is this really true? Right. Or is this a narrative that I'm telling myself? Or maybe my co worker told me that narrative or maybe my spouse or maybe from my childhood.
[00:09:18] Speaker C: Right.
[00:09:18] Speaker A: So catching that thought and asking, is this true?
[00:09:22] Speaker C: Right.
[00:09:22] Speaker A: And intentionally replacing it with an empowering thought the second you begin to have these negative self doubts about yourself. So self awareness, I feel, is key.
[00:09:34] Speaker B: So what would an example be? If you want to change the thought when you question something, what would you say to yourself?
[00:09:41] Speaker A: So for me, you know, speaking on stages of speaking period, you know, I said, oh, I'm not a great speaker. You know, I hate public speaking. No, when the thought come up.
[00:09:52] Speaker C: Right.
[00:09:52] Speaker A: No, I am an innovative, you know, dynamic, awesome speaker. Everyone wants to hear Tameka when she speaks.
[00:10:01] Speaker C: Right.
[00:10:01] Speaker A: I, I have to flip it, right?
[00:10:03] Speaker B: Yeah. Right.
[00:10:06] Speaker C: Right.
[00:10:06] Speaker A: So that's, that's what I do. And I teach my daughter to do the same thing.
[00:10:09] Speaker C: Right.
[00:10:11] Speaker A: We have to catch these thoughts and be able to reprogram our mind with positive beliefs. If not, they'll consume us.
[00:10:19] Speaker C: Right.
[00:10:20] Speaker A: They'll consume our business, they'll consume our mind, and before you know it, we're spiraling.
[00:10:25] Speaker B: Exactly.
So can you share a quick success story where somebody broke through and achieved, achieved transformation, freeing themselves of self limiting beliefs?
[00:10:37] Speaker A: So I coached a woman veteran a few months ago and she went from doubting her ability to lead to successfully launching her own business. And now she mentors other women to do the same.
[00:10:51] Speaker C: Right.
[00:10:52] Speaker A: It's like that. I explained it to her. It's like that T shirt, right? Her, her T shirt was I'm a failure.
[00:11:00] Speaker C: Right?
[00:11:01] Speaker A: So she wore this T shirt, I'm a failure, that was given to her by a family member not knowing.
[00:11:06] Speaker C: Right.
[00:11:06] Speaker A: But so she wore this, this I'm a failure T shirt. And I told her that. That's not your story. That's not your teacher.
[00:11:15] Speaker C: Right.
[00:11:16] Speaker A: That's a limiting belief that you told yourself or someone told you. Now you're wearing their T shirt. They gave it to you. It's not yours. Take it off. It doesn't fit anymore. Take it off. So we begin to work through, through I'm a failure.
[00:11:30] Speaker C: Right.
[00:11:31] Speaker A: And reprogram that belief to know I'm a leader, I'm worthy of success.
[00:11:36] Speaker C: Right.
[00:11:38] Speaker A: Do this, all the things right.
[00:11:39] Speaker B: And Tamika, I don't want to cut you off. We have to take a quick commercial break. We'll pick up where we left off. Thank you for showing us how we can shift our mindset as well as shifting our numbers, which are both important in business.
[00:11:55] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:11:55] Speaker B: We'll be right back. Stay with us and we'll talk about building unshakable confidence.
[00:12:17] Speaker A: Foreign.

Tamika, it's so great having you on because we were talking about the, you know, the mindset, beliefs that can hold the business back from being, from growing, you know, from reaching their full potential. And that of course, business, and to me, business and personal are, you can't separate the two.
[00:13:24] Speaker C: Right?
[00:13:25] Speaker B: They're part of, of who we are when we're growing our business and we go into our businesses because we, you know, we want to accomplish something as well as build a profitable business.
So let's talk about building confidence.
This title is, you know, this segment, I was thinking building unshakable confidence because you often have confidence, but you know that it, it does, you know, when things go wrong, we start to doubt ourselves again. We're not born with confidence.
I think it's something we build over time and learn. So for women entrepreneurs, you know, confidence can be the deciding factor between playing small and scaling boldly. Even when it comes to pricing, confidence plays a huge role in feeling confident about what you're charging the right price for your services.
So why would you say so many women struggle for this even when they're accomplished? Because I see it all the time in my practice.
[00:14:24] Speaker A: I think a lot of times, because society teaches us to downplay our wins, right? Downplay our wins.
Don't brag.
[00:14:34] Speaker C: Right?
[00:14:34] Speaker A: Don't brag. Don't be too much. You're too much. You're being a little over the top or the be humble or who do you think you are?
[00:14:42] Speaker C: Right.
[00:14:43] Speaker A: So I think that conditioning makes us shrink instead of reaching our full potentials at times.
[00:14:50] Speaker B: You know, and, and some, and sometimes when things go wrong in business, it can shake your confidence. So that's something you have to kind of recover from and, you know, and, and build back the confidence. Are there any things that kind of tricks. I don't know if tricks are the right word, but tips to be able to reset your confidence when things shake you when things go wrong.
[00:15:16] Speaker A: So for me or I help my clients gather evidence of their wins and actionable steps that they've taken in the past, reminding them that confidence is a magic. It's built through, like you said, consistent action, taking that first step, even if it's the baby step, taking that first step, right.
We take that self limiting belief and we flip it and take actionable steps towards reframing that belief.
[00:15:44] Speaker C: Right.
[00:15:45] Speaker A: And we do that through affirmations. I know we talked about journaling before, but journaling is key, right. You write it enough and fill it and believe becomes your life, it becomes you.
[00:15:57] Speaker C: Right.
[00:15:58] Speaker A: So I'll give you a quick story.
This self doubt and this confidence I lack with public speaking. I had an opportunity to film an interview on NBC in California. So went out to California and I was on the news, NBC promoting my book, advertising and talking about my book.
And let me tell you, I lack confidence. And it showed in every aspect, every. It just showed up.
[00:16:29] Speaker C: Right.
[00:16:30] Speaker A: And I could not shake the feeling this, this, this feeling that I had that I wasn't worthy enough. I'm not supposed to be here. Who do you think you are? All the things I end up filming, recording, and I just did it. I did it scared, but I did it. That was that first actual step sometimes that we need to take. Do it, do it scared, Right, Right. But it builds confidence. You get the momentum just by doing it.
[00:16:55] Speaker B: Yeah, that's interesting.
I was in, I did a pitch contest recently.
It was only the second time I'd ever done it. But I will tell you that even though I had practiced and rehearsed and rehearsed, when I went on the stage in front of the judges, I was shaking and it was such a physical reaction and there was nothing. I even tried the Amy cutter pose, the warrior pose, anything to get over it and, and it was hard. So doing it scared, you know, I guess that is a lack of confidence. I'm going to mess up.
[00:17:30] Speaker C: Right?
[00:17:31] Speaker B: That was what was, was, you know, kind of just controlling my whole thought about, about the, the pitch that I was doing.
So, you know, let's talk. We're talking about creating a thriving business, right? And your personal life does matter as well. What role does mindset play in creating a thriving business?
[00:17:56] Speaker A: A growth mindset, I think is key. It's everything.
You can have the strategies you can have the tools, the skills, the resources. But if your mind is filled with doubt and lack confidence, you'll sabotage your own success every time.
And I go back to that, my interview with NBC right at the end, I was able to, to do it more confidently because I took a step back, you know, did my three, five minutes, you know, pause breathing and reprogram my mind to. I got this right. I could do all things. I got this right. And my perfect May not be their perfect, but it's my perfect, right? It's, it's, it's, it's my progress, right? So that's what I had to tell myself. And even in my business, right. I'm not for everyone. Every woman, right? And that's okay. But the woman, the women who I do coach, right, I'm gonna invest in them and I'm going to make sure that they have the tools to succeed in life and become the best versions of themselves, right? So growth, mindset is, is everything. Like I said, you can have the scat, the strategies, the skills, the tools, the all the things. But if there's lack of confidence, self doubt, feeling unworthy, coping skills, all the things, you'll sabotage your success every time, right?
[00:19:24] Speaker B: That keeps you stuck. So you mentioned tools and you mentioned affirmations before.
So what daily practices or affirmations do you recommend for building confidence?
[00:19:35] Speaker A: For me, affirmations is everything. I'm an affirmation queen. I have them on my mirror, in my bathroom, my car, my office.
I have them everywhere.
I just love affirmations.
And then journaling, journaling helped me through my healing self love journey. After I retired from the military, I did 23 years in the Air Force and I retired in 2022.
It just hit me like a ton of bricks, right? Like, who are you?
[00:20:04] Speaker C: Right?
[00:20:04] Speaker A: I've been in the military for 23 years. Who are you? What do you want in life? What are your desires? What is your purpose?
So I went on this journey and, and journaling, affirming who I am and finding out who, you know, Tamika is, was, was part of the process, right? And celebrating those small wins, daily practice, right? Celebrating, even if it's a small win, doesn't have to be any a big win, but just a small one, right? And then mirror work, you know, looking in the mirror, facing yourself and talking to yourself and affirming who you are every day, right? And not only just saying it, right? But you have to believe it and you have to feel it. Feeling it is key because once you feel it, you're gonna begin to embody it, right? So actually speaking life over yourself every day is very important. This is a daily practice that I do daily.
[00:20:58] Speaker B: And so let's close out with. You have a limitless queen coaching program that helps with confidence. Can you tell us a little bit about that, you know, before we take a break?
[00:21:10] Speaker A: So as a result, some women who was in a program they had since we started, and it's an eight week program, they raised their Prices.
[00:21:23] Speaker C: Right.
[00:21:23] Speaker A: Of their coaching programs.
They stepped into boardrooms with authority.
[00:21:28] Speaker C: Right.
[00:21:28] Speaker A: They became the confident, authentic woman they once dreamed of becoming.
[00:21:33] Speaker C: Right.
[00:21:34] Speaker A: And they learned how to stop apologizing for their brilliance.
[00:21:38] Speaker C: Right.
[00:21:40] Speaker A: They have the tools in their purse for whenever they, they feel any type of doubt, insecurity, a lack of confidence, they can pull it out.
[00:21:49] Speaker C: Right.
[00:21:50] Speaker A: They learn how not to stay stuck in these feelings. A lot of times we stay stuck.
[00:21:54] Speaker C: Right.
[00:21:55] Speaker A: And, and, and know that these feelings will come, but they know what to do with them when the feelings do come.
[00:22:02] Speaker B: Well, I appreciate you sharing these insights because I do know in my, you know, more than 30 years of, of coaching women and help and doing their taxes and accounting, that when they strengthen their mindset, they also strengthen their business. And you know, that that has been one of my purposes my entire career. How do people find you?
If they want to follow you or learn more about your story, you can.
[00:22:29] Speaker A: Find me on my website is www.flawlesslifecoaching.com.
on social media, all things Flawless Life Coaching.com Facebook and Instagram flawlesslifecoaching.com thank you.
[00:22:45] Speaker B: And we're gonna, we'll be back in a moment. Please stay with us. Tamika and I are going to talk about from fear to freedom in the next segment. So stay with us and we look forward to continuing our conversation. Thank you.
Welcome back to Balancing Acts. I'm your host, Linda Hamilton, and we're speaking with Tamika Jones of Flawless Life Coaching. And we've been talking about mindset, self limiting beliefs, confidence, all the things that are important as well as being profitable and building a resilient business. You know, we focus too often on growing our sales, growing our sales. But we also want to work on, you know, developing ourselves. Personal and professional development will help us be even more successful. But this segment, we want to talk about fear.
It's one of the biggest roadblocks to success, and that's in business and in our personal lives. Such fear of failure, fear of judgment, fear of success.
And so what Tamika is going to help us with is how do we move from fear into freedom and kind of releasing ourselves from that.
Tamika, what fears do women business owners most often share with you?
[00:24:32] Speaker A: I hear as far as their fears in their business, excuse me, is the fear of failure, right. Fear that their business is gonna, you know, fail.
[00:24:43] Speaker C: Right.
[00:24:43] Speaker A: Or the fear of not having all the answers.
[00:24:46] Speaker C: Right.
[00:24:47] Speaker A: That's, that's a big one. Fear of not having all the, the answers to whatever, you know, issues that may come up.
Fear of judgment and then surprisingly, fear of success.
[00:24:58] Speaker C: Right?
[00:24:59] Speaker A: And all the what ifs. All of the what ifs.
[00:25:03] Speaker B: What ifs, you know, as, as a cpa, I've spent most of my career saying, getting business owners to evaluate what if, all the things that could go wrong. So maybe that, you know, while it's important, it can, it can freeze you, right?
[00:25:20] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:25:20] Speaker B: So we probably don't want to overdo that.
Fear of failure and fear of success differ.
[00:25:29] Speaker A: So fear of failure is about the shame, you know, behind feeling, you know, what, what will people think if I mess up?
[00:25:37] Speaker C: Right.
[00:25:38] Speaker A: What if they don't like me? Or what if I'm not good enough? And also that comparison trap too, Right. And in fear of success is all about putting pressure on you, right. Can I really sustain this business?
[00:25:52] Speaker C: Right.
[00:25:52] Speaker A: And once again, the what ifs.
So that's the difference.
The fear of failure and the fear of success. The fear of success is about pressure. That's that, that you put on yourself or others may put on you.
[00:26:06] Speaker C: Right?
[00:26:06] Speaker A: And the fear of failure is about the shame behind it.
[00:26:10] Speaker B: Right? That's, that's so important. And it's, it's hard to move away from what other people think of you when, you know, when, if you're worried about failing, right. That how everyone else is going to look at you with failure. And I know so many business owners do that, especially while they're growing.
How do they deal? So how can women deal with that? How do you, how does that, you know, fear controls our decisions, right? How can, how can they find some strategies to avoid that?
[00:26:45] Speaker A: I think first having that self awareness like we talked about in the last segment and then exposing the fear, right? Exposing the fear, breaking it down and taking actionable steps anyways, right? Taking those small steps because action dissolves that fear. The more you step forward and move in action, it dissolves that fear. It makes that fear seems, you know, smaller and smaller.
[00:27:12] Speaker C: Right.
[00:27:12] Speaker A: And through my flaws method, I help women to turn their fears into fuel and their struggles into strategy.
[00:27:18] Speaker C: Right.
[00:27:19] Speaker A: And women into unstoppable leaders who own their, their success.
[00:27:23] Speaker C: Right.
[00:27:25] Speaker A: And we could talk about my flawless method, I think later or whenever.
[00:27:30] Speaker B: I'd love to hear a little more about the, the method where you talk about, like how, how does it fuel your. Did you say, you know, using fears to fuel your success.
[00:27:40] Speaker A: So my, about that, so my flaws method, I break down each letter of flaws because for me and how I teach flaws, right? This method, your flaws are your superpower. They make you, you, you know, they, they are made up of who you are, your flaws. So f first love yourself.
Let me refer, Let me reframe this. Rephrase it. I'm sorry. F face your fears. That's what we're talking about today, is facing your fears. F face your fears. L love yourself first. I got ahead of myself. Love yourself first, right? And I accept and approve of who you are, right? And then w. You working on your struggles, whatever, whatever struggle you may have within that business, you working and you taking actionable steps towards it. And then the S in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, you're ready to step into your purpose, right? And step into that business boldly. So we break down each section of my flaws method, right? And I've seen women transform their business because of this method. We take each block of the flaws, right? Because flaws are our superpowers, right?
We take each step and we work toward one. Who they want to become as a woman and how they want to show up in their business.
[00:29:02] Speaker B: Can we talk, let's talk about some. An example of someone who's gone through the program maybe, and they, you know, like pricing, I don't know if you have any examples on pricing where, you know, maybe they're not making enough money in their business and they're afraid to raise, they're afraid to raise their prices, their customers are going to get mad at them or they think, you know, they don't have enough, you know, they maybe undervalue their services.
What, what are some things they can do to loosen that grip? If you have an example you can share.
[00:29:34] Speaker A: So once again, I think knowing your worth and knowing what you can bring right, to the, to any table, or not even to the table, but impacting lives. We're talking about impacting lives to your business.
So knowing your worth and what the lives you can impact, I think will show up in your pricing, right? And being able to say, okay, if I want to charge this 9.99, let's $999 for this coaching program.
That's my price. I'm sticking to it, right? For whatever reasons, I'm sticking to it. I'm not going to get swayed by other business coaches or my advisor or mentor. If that's your price stake, stay with that price. Don't second guess it. You came up with that price for a reason, right?
So I think owning, owning who you are, you know, and knowing that you add value in people's lives, I think that will help women determine, you know, their, their pricing. But you have to be confident and know I'm going to charge this 999. And I know that it adds value in lives, to lives.
So I'm going to step out on faith and, and charge the 9.99 and be okay with it.
Yeah.
[00:30:52] Speaker B: And there's, you know, not only, you know, being okay with it, but sometimes you might take a small step if you think you're, you know, undercharging.
You get past that fear and raise it a little bit maybe, and see, you know, if that gives you a little confidence to move forward.
There must be, you know, exercises that we can use to loosen the grip of fear. And, and maybe there's some things about our personal life too because, you know, you're often running ragged, right.
When you're running a business. Maybe you have a family or children and you know, or your significant other and there's no time, so you're getting pulled in different directions. And I mean, even that creates fear, you know, fear that, that you're not doing enough.
So what can you do about that?
[00:31:43] Speaker A: So what I have my clients do is write down their biggest fear, whatever that fear is, right? In your personal life or in your business, write it down, right? On one side of the paper. Grab a piece of paper and write it down on one side of the paper. Then on the opposite side, write down your best outcome.
[00:32:00] Speaker C: Right?
[00:32:01] Speaker A: The best outcome.
You train your brain to focus on what's possible versus what's not possible.
So you reframing that belief, right?
Let's go with the public speaking.
My fear is I'm a horrible public speaker. I stutter when I speak. I jumble up my words, all the things, right? That's, that's, you know, the fear.
[00:32:25] Speaker C: Right?
[00:32:25] Speaker A: Best outcome, that I'm a dynamic, awesome, impactful speaker.
[00:32:30] Speaker C: Right.
[00:32:31] Speaker A: So I reframe that belief and I continue to say that and I continue to believe it and I continue to envision it each and every day. And guess what? I'm going to become that impactful, motivating, inspirational, all time greatest speaker.
[00:32:48] Speaker C: Right?
[00:32:48] Speaker A: Because I'm, I'm embodying it. And that's what it's about. Your business. You have to become your business. Eat, breathe, sleep, your business.
[00:32:55] Speaker C: Right?
[00:32:57] Speaker B: That's, I love that.
What is possible. I love the two columns and that, that image. I think I'm going to try that myself. Thank you so much for reminding us that actually freedom does begin with releasing fear. And just like in business, when we face fear up front, we create, you know, space to actually grow. That's what balancing acts is about. Growing, profiting and scaling your Business being resilient and keeping your sanity. You know, when women embrace who they truly are, they. They not only grow stronger businesses, but they lead more fulfilling lives. And that is what Balancing Acts is about. Being able to have the business you dream of and a fulfilling life. And so I'm so eager to hear your insights on that topic. Why is Authentic purpose so powerful for a woman business owner?
[00:36:13] Speaker A: I think because it, it keeps you grounded, right? So when you know who you are, you stop chasing all the trends, all the things, right? And you start making aligned decisions for your business, right? Both in professional and personal decisions.
[00:36:30] Speaker C: Right?
[00:36:31] Speaker A: In my program we talk about true authenticity, right? Which is the a.
[00:36:36] Speaker C: Right.
[00:36:36] Speaker A: And my flawless method. Accept and approve of your authentic self. Self. We tap into becoming her. Whatever her looks like for my client, we, we tap into that best version of becoming her.
[00:36:53] Speaker B: So you have a workshop who who are you? Workshop. I love the name of that. And so how does that help uncover purpose?
[00:37:02] Speaker A: So I changed the name a little bit. It's who do you think you are?
Oh Right, Yeah. More possessed. Yeah. But who do you think you are?
[00:37:10] Speaker C: Right?
[00:37:12] Speaker A: And I'll be hosting it, it's next month. And it strips away the labels and, and, and, and help women to reconnect with their inner identity, right? The core, right? Beyond the titles, the roles or the expectations in life because it for me on my, my self love journey, I, or my healing journey, there were so many expectations and titles and all the roles, right. I'm a nurse, right. I'm an officer in the air force, I'm a mom, single mom, I'm, I'm a coach, all these things, right? But I had to take a step back and say who is Tamika to the core?
[00:37:47] Speaker C: Right?
[00:37:48] Speaker A: Who is Tamika to the core? And when I begin to do that and understand who I am, I began to walk more confidently in my business, right? Because they're just labels that our parents, spouse, work, society, all the things, you know, all the degrees, all the things, right.
We forget or we never took the time to identify who we really are at our core, right? And that's that T shirt. Once again we wear this T shirt with these labels, right? Take it off, take it off. And when you take it off, that's when you discover or uncover your purpose and passion in life and that helps women to connect or reconnect with their business, to have a successful business.
[00:38:32] Speaker B: And you know, before I ask you something, I want to thank you for you know, nurse, veteran and that journey to entrepreneurs still providing coaches. Thank you so much for your service because it's clearly you have, have spent so much of life with a purpose of serving others and helping others be their better selves. So thank you for that.
[00:38:55] Speaker A: Thank you. I always mentioned that service is in my DNA, right? Hence why I joined the military while I became a nurse now coaching, right? So I think it's in my DNA.
[00:39:04] Speaker B: Wonderful, wonderful. And so what do you think is the connection between self love, what you've talked about and effective leadership?
[00:39:13] Speaker A: I think if you don't take the time to value yourself, to learn who you are to the core and know your self worth, you will struggle to lead others.
And you have to love yourself and have that self awareness to be able to lead others in your business, right? Self love is the foundation and influence, foundation of influence and impact in your business, right? You have to love self in order to love others.
Which by the way is the L in my flaws method. Love yourself first.
[00:39:48] Speaker B: I love that. And so you know, when they use purpose, when you use purpose as, as kind of a compass to grow And I often teach that in my workshops as well.
You know, the. The purpose has to matter to us. It has to meet our values. But it's also, you know, that we want to take care of our customers as well, because our customers have their own self love and what they need, right?
So how do you use your purpose as a compass and decision making? Like, you know, is it working with the right people? Is it, you know, what's a good fit for your business? It brings so many things to mind for me.
[00:40:28] Speaker A: So purpose does become your yes or your no. Your confidence.
[00:40:32] Speaker C: Right?
[00:40:32] Speaker A: It directs what aligns with your values and what doesn't.
[00:40:37] Speaker C: Right.
[00:40:37] Speaker A: For your business.
So purpose is key. It is your compass. And I know Viola Davis once said, my purpose is not what I do.
It's what happens to the people when I do what I do. And that resonated with me. So being an identity coach or being a business owner or entrepreneur, right? That's not my purpose.
It's what I do. But it's not my purpose. It's the impact behind it is the purpose.
[00:41:08] Speaker B: And so let's talk about, you know, the title with living and leading with authentic purpose, being authentic, and what that means for women entrepreneurs. You know, they want to live authentically and without apology.
What message would you give to them to take away as they. As they build their businesses?
[00:41:32] Speaker A: So walking in your purpose isn't just about success, right. It's about freedom.
[00:41:36] Speaker C: Right?
[00:41:37] Speaker A: Freedom of being you. When I stopped striving for perfection and started striving for progress.
[00:41:44] Speaker C: Right.
[00:41:44] Speaker A: And being my unapologetic self.
[00:41:48] Speaker C: Right.
[00:41:48] Speaker A: Embracing my flaws, living boldly, never apologizing for who I am.
[00:41:54] Speaker C: Right?
[00:41:55] Speaker A: That's again, that's when I began to walk in my purse. Purpose, right? And it gives that sense of freedom. Like, this is me. This is how I'm gonna show up every time.
[00:42:02] Speaker C: Right?
[00:42:03] Speaker A: This is me.
[00:42:04] Speaker C: Right?
[00:42:04] Speaker A: Take up space.
[00:42:05] Speaker C: Right?
[00:42:07] Speaker A: And I'll leave you with my. My favorite affirmation. My favorite, favorite affirmation. So get your pen and pencil out. I want to leave you with my favorite, favorite, favorite affirmation.
So I'm gonna say it three times.
Everything is working out for my greater good, no matter how it looks in my business, in my personal life, with my kids, with my spouse at work, everything is working out for your greater good, no matter how it look.
So believe it, feel it, embrace it, own it. That everything is working out for your greater good, no matter how it look.
[00:42:48] Speaker B: I love that affirmation. Everything is working out. And perfectionism is something that derails us often. Right? It's not good enough. It's not good enough. It's perfect. I do that myself and it's so important to be able to get past that. And thank you so much for sharing that.
How can people find more about you online And I know you have a number of books. We'd like to know how we can find your books and learn more.
[00:43:17] Speaker A: On my my website, www.flawlesslifecoaching.com you can find all things about Flawless Life Coaching about Tamika Jones my website and also I'm on social media too. I'm on Instagram as well as Facebook and Flawless Life Coaching.
It's my social media handle. Flawless Life Coaching.
[00:43:37] Speaker B: And what's one of your favorite books on the topic, your own or anything else that can help us with purpose?
[00:43:46] Speaker A: I'm gonna go up my own riding the ways to self confidence and you can find that on my website as well because that's something that I struggle with throughout my journey. Was that confidence that we talked about.
[00:43:57] Speaker B: Thank you. Thank you so much for sharing your insights with us with helping us learn about overcoming fear with confidence, with self limiting beliefs. You shared so many insights today and this last one about living with with purpose and I learned so many tips from you today and I think that my one is that I want to take those two columns when I'm feeling maybe a little fear over success of something and putting it on the other side and saying okay, but what is possible and that's what I would hope for all the women business owners and any business owner really listening because small business owners struggle with success. You know it's not a straight path. Right. It's up and down and your journey has shown us that as well from nurse veteran and business owners. So it was just such a pleasure having you today.
[00:44:52] Speaker A: Thank you.
[00:44:53] Speaker B: I hope you'll tune in again next week for another episode of Balancing Acts. We look forward to sharing more insights to help you with your challenges and your opportunities in growing a a profitable, resilient business. Thank you for being with us.
[00:45:08] Speaker A: Thank you.
